اِقۡرَاۡ بِاسۡمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ‌ۚ‏﴿۱﴾

Recite in the name of your Lord who created

خَلَقَ الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ‌ۚ‏﴿۲﴾

Created man from a clinging substance

اِقۡرَاۡ وَرَبُّكَ الۡاَكۡرَمُۙ ‏﴿۳﴾

Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous

الَّذِىۡ عَلَّمَ بِالۡقَلَمِۙ‏﴿۴﴾

Who taught by the pen

عَلَّمَ الۡاِنۡسَانَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡؕ‏﴿۵﴾

Taught man that which he knew not

كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ الۡاِنۡسَانَ لَيَطۡغٰٓىۙ‏﴿۶﴾

No! [But] indeed, man transgresses

اَنۡ رَّاٰهُ اسۡتَغۡنٰىؕ‏﴿۷﴾

Because he sees himself self-sufficient

اِنَّ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ الرُّجۡعٰىؕ‏﴿۸﴾

Indeed, to your Lord is the return

اَرَءَيۡتَ الَّذِىۡ يَنۡهٰىؕ‏﴿۹﴾

Have you seen the one who forbids

عَبۡدًا اِذَا صَلّٰىؕ‏﴿۱۰﴾

A servant when he prays

اَرَءَيۡتَ اِنۡ كَانَ عَلَى الۡهُدٰٓىۙ‏﴿۱۱﴾

Have you seen if he is upon guidance

اَوۡ اَمَرَ بِالتَّقۡوٰىۙ‏﴿۱۲﴾

Or enjoins righteousness

اَرَءَيۡتَ اِنۡ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىؕ‏﴿۱۳﴾

Have you seen if he denies and turns away

اَلَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَرٰىؕ‏﴿۱۴﴾

Does he not know that Allah sees

كَلَّا لَٮِٕنۡ لَّمۡ يَنۡتَهِ  ۙ لَنَسۡفَعًۢا بِالنَّاصِيَةِۙ‏﴿۱۵﴾

No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock

نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ‌ ۚ‏﴿۱۶﴾

A lying, sinning forelock

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهٗ ۙ‏﴿۱۷﴾

Then let him call his associates

سَنَدۡعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ ۙ‏﴿۱۸﴾

We will call the angels of Hell

كَلَّا ؕ لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَاسۡجُدۡ وَاقۡتَرِبْ۩‏﴿۱۹﴾

No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]
